Icebreakers of Atomflot will continue transporting tourists to the North Pole

It is planned to include one more icebreaker to fulfillment of cruises to the North Pole. The enterprise “Atomflot”, which supervises the nuclear-powered icebreaking fleet of Russia, is not going to abandon this route.
According to the words of the director general of Atomflot Vyacheslav Ruksha, within the coming 2 years cruises to the North Pole will be continued. As he notes, cruises became two times more effective with consideration of exchange value of ruble.
During the latest years the icebreaker “Yamal” transported tourists to the northernmost point of the Earth. The icebreaker can take on board about 100 passengers. During one season it fulfills not more than 5 trips. The average cost of a cruise makes twenty thousand dollars. The icebreaker nuclear-powered fleet of Russia includes six ships: “Yamal”, “Rossiya”, “Sovetsky Soyuz”, “Taymyr”, “50 Let Pobedy” and “Vaygach”. Another three are being built. It is planned to complete building of the first till 2017.
