The public hearings on creation of the new natural reserve of regional significance “Synsko-Voykarsky” took place in the settlement Muzhi, Shuryshkarskiy district. It is necessary to save spawning areas in mountain rivers and lakes.
Complex ecological research of a part of Shuryshkarskiy district was conducted by the institute of ecology of plants and animals, the Ural branch of the RAS. It is planned that the natural reserve will consist of two areas covering basins of the rivers Tanyu and Synya, as the press-service of the governor of Yamal informs.
In the opinion of the researchers, the territory of the supposed natural reserve is presented with a unique region of the planet, where there are spawning areas of the world’s largest shoals of precious species of whitefish. From ancient time they were objects of fishing for local inhabitants and in one row with reindeer served the basis for wellbeing of indigenous population. Such species as the peled, the broad whitefish — chir, the Siberian whitefish – pyzhyan go for spawning every year from the Gulf of Ob to the rivers Synya and Tanyu. A representative of salmon species – taimen of Ural group brought into the Red Books of the Russian Federation and Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug lives in upper areas of these rivers.
A procedure of creation of such nature-protecting zone takes from 6 to 8 months. State ecological expertise of the materials that substantiate creation of the natural reserve and agreement with the Ministry for natural resources, the Federation agency for subsoil use, the administration of Shuryshkarskiy district will be conducted during this time.
