The new tourist route “The easternmost point of Europe” will be presented in Yamal in summer. It is situated on the border of Yamal and Komi in the watershed zone of the district between the lakes Maloye Shchuchiye and Bolshoye Khadata-Yugan-Lor. The easternmost water flow of the European River Pechora is situated here.
This information was given to a correspondent of IA “Sever-Press” by the director of the Russian center for exploration of the Arctic Vladimir Pushkaryov. Search for the easternmost point of Europe took place during 6 years. Several expeditions were conducted. It was managed to define and register the precise coordinates of the geographical point last summer. The fact was confirmed by the institute of geography of the RAS and experts of the Russian Federal Agency for tourism, as he notes.
This year the memorable sign will be set in this amazing corner of the Russian Arctic. Everyone, who will come here, will be able to see it. Vladimir Pushkaryov hopes that this is a future brand of Yamal. The route will attract not only people of Yamal but also foreign tourists. Its length will make 500 kilometers. Tourists will overcome the biggest part by all-terrain vehicles, and 30 kilometers – on foot. The travel will start in Salekhard, will go along the massif Yangane-Pe through the ethnographic nomadic camp to the final point – lake Maloye Shchuchiye, where the easternmost point of Europe was registered.
Till this time three points of Europe were known: the southernmost – in Spain, the westernmost – in Portugal and the northernmost – in Norway.
