Aviators of Russia and Yamal are celebrating their professional holiday on the 9th of February.
History of civil aviation in the country started on the 9th of February of 1923 after issue of the regulation “On organizing of the Council on civil aviation”. The decision on creation of the structure providing people with passenger and cargo transportations was taken exactly at that time. Today civil aviation includes search and rescue operations, delivery of humanitarian help and sanitary flights – important for inhabitants of remote districts of Yamal.
7 airports work in the region. They receive and send passengers, mail and cargoes on inter-municipal and interregional directions. Last year 50 thousand and 269 flights were fulfilled from airports of the region. This index is on 2500 flights more than in 2015. Departmental airports also work in Yamal – Yamburg, Bovanenkovo and Sabetta. They provide rotation and cargo transportations, as the press-service of the governor of Yamal informs.
More than 10 airline companies fulfill transportations of passengers, cargoes, baggage and mail in the region and beyond its limits. Subsidizing of flights from the regional budget is saved. This year subsidizing of transportations by air transport both inside the region and beyond its limits is fulfilled in Yamal. 30 inter-municipal routes and 6 interregional flights are in the priority. In total 830 thousand and 239 passengers were transported last year from Yamal on all directions, including unsubsidized ones. In comparison to 2015 the amount grew more than on 2000 people.
