The expedition by snowmobiles went from Yekaterinburg to the Arctic Ocean. According to the information given by the initiator of laying the route “Sever” (North), the head of the company “Klub Iskatelei Priklyucheniy” (“The club of adventure seekers”, Yekaterinburg) Konstantin Kuznetsov to a correspondent of IA “Sever-Press”, 9 experienced travelers are going to the expedition by 8 snowmobiles.
Other participants will join them for short distances of the route safe and more popular for tourists. Beside the travelers of Ural region, the group includes representatives of Nyagan and Rostov-on-Don. Local snowmobile drivers will join in Vorkuta. They will go together with the travelers to the Kara Sea. As Konstantin Kuznetsov says, he welcomes people from Yamal, if they would like to join the expedition. As he notes, if weather is fine, on their way back the travelers will visit Salekhard and Labytnangi.
Earlier they planned to make the route on three regions – Sverdlovsk Oblast, Yugra and Yamal. But the route is changed: additionally they will touch the territory of the Republic of Komi and a small piece of Perm Krai. In the end of March the travelers count to reach the coast of the Arctic Ocean.
According to his words, the route from Saranpaul, Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug will be the first-time route for the travelers; they have never gone further by snowmobiles. The main thing, as he says, is enough amounts of snow and not very early spring. As we should remind, last year the travelers planned to go by snowmobiles along this route in two stages, between which they made an interval in two months. But they had to cancel the second route – in Yugra and Yamal – because of early warming and thawing of snow.
The aim of the project is to make the route permanently operating in winter, to equip it and to popularize snowmobile travels.
