The second icebreaker for Novoportovskoye field will be launched to water in May

It is planned to launch the icebreaker “Andrey Vertitskiy” for the Novoportovskoye field this May. This information was given by the director general of Vyborg Shipyard Alexander Solovyov. According to his words, it is planned to transfer the ship to “Gazprom Neft” till the end of the year, as portnews.ru reports. Also this year it is planned to transfer the lead icebreaker of the series “Alexander Sannikov” to the customer.
As previously reported, two icebreakers that will work on the Arctic terminal of Novoportovskoye field in Yamal are being built on Vyborg Shipyard by the order of “Gazprom Neft”. The ships were designed for icebreaking support of tankers, assistance in conducting of mooring and loading operations, rescue operations, towing of vessels, fire fighting, participating in operations on liquidation of oil spills. The ships should have the possibility of continuous operation at temperatures up to 50C degrees below zero.
