NOVATEK prepares resource base for LNG-projects in Yamal

NOVATEK counts to receive about 8 milliard cubic meters of gas and up to 800 thousand tonnes of condensate per year from three fields of Severo-Russkiy area after coming to the shelf. This information was given by the chairman of the board of the company Leonid Mikhelson, as the newspaper “Vedomosti” informs.
Considerable work on geological prospecting was conducted; preparation of the project on development of these fields is being completed. As he thinks, till the end of the year the company will start work on investments.
Severo-Russkiy area includes North-Russkoye, Dorogovskoye and East-Tazovskoye fields in Yamal. Their total reserves on the international classification SEC makes 76 milliard and 700 million cubic meters of gas and more than 5 million tonnes of condensate.
Last year NOVATEK considerably extended resource base on the Gydan peninsula, having received 4 new licensed areas. The group purchased the company “Evrotek-Yukh” that owned the license for exploration and extraction within Ladertoyskoye area in Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. The new assets include Syadorskoye and Nyakhartinskoye areas in Yamal.
According to the words of Leonid Mikhelson, the company continues exploratory drilling in Utreneye (Salmanovskoye) field. On the Gydan peninsula it will become resource base for the project of production of liquefied gas “Arctic LNG 2”. The current reserves allow planning the future project by the amount on 10-15% bigger than the project “Yamal LNG”, as the head of the company notes. The capacity of the plant “Yamal LNG” is 16 million and 500 thousand tonnes, the startup is planned for the end of this year.
