The scientific station on Beliy Island will be prepared for the field season

The complex expedition to Beliy Island went from Labytnangi. Till the beginning of the field seasons everything will be ready there for receiving of volunteers-ecologists and scientists.

For that aim 5 all-terrain vehicles will deliver 13 people and more than 25 tonnes of cargoes – fuel, foodstuff, building materials and also a wind electric power plant with two additional solar batteries for the scientific and research station to the northernmost part of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. This information was given to a correspondent of IA “Sever-Press” in the department on science and innovations of Yamal.
According to the words of the director of the department Aleksey Titovskiy, the expedition has complex character. The participants of the expedition will collect the remained metal scrap on a location for transportation to the continental part. Also an employee of the sector of ecological and biological researches at the scientific center for study of the Arctic Ivan Semenyuk will arrive to Beliy Island. He will take samples of snow along the route of the expedition on each 70 kilometers to study atmospheric sediments.
After arrival to the island the participants of the expedition will set the wind electric power plant. According to the information given by the head of the expedition, the director of the Russian center for exploration of the Arctic Andrey Baryshnikov, the alternative source of energy will allow considerably decreasing expenditures for fuel and in the prospect transferring the scientific and research station to the year-round mode of work. Now scientists come to work on the island only in summer. Building materials will be delivered to the island in order to set the monument to the participants of the convoy “White Sea – Dikson 5”
The participants of the expedition plan to come back in the beginning of April.
