The state program on development of the Arctic supposes creation of the supporting area in Yamal

About 40 projects can be included to Yamal-Nenets supporting area, which is planned for creation by the results of approving of the state program on development of the Arctic. This information was given by the governor of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug Dmitriy Kobylkin in the interview to TASS on the Russian Investment Forum in Sochi.

The supporting area in Yamal can include about 40 small projects, which have been already discussed, and, probably, as he says, two-four big projects. Specialization is oil and gas, as the region is oil-gas one, as the head of Yamal notes.
According to his words, Yamal took active part in discussion of creation of supporting areas in the Arctic. For Yamal it is unusual to form a supporting area, as it has never lived in this way, and specialists do not understand the whole procedure completely, how the process will be formed and what it will bring. As the governor says, at forming of the supporting area the region insisted, first of all, on independence, in order to keep more money on the territory of the region for further development.
8 geographical supporting areas were chosen in the working variant of the finalized state program on development of the Arctic: Yamal-Nenets, Kola, Archangelsk, Nenets, Vorkuta, Taymyr-Turukhansk, North-Yakutia and Chukotka. They will be created for production of technical means and technologies, ecological monitoring, increase of life quality of indigenous ethnic minorities, fulfillment of informational policy and other priority tasks.
