In Saint Petersburg students from Yamal received information about development of the Arctic

The scientific and enlightenment conference “The Russian Arctic: ecology, memory, digital projects” took place in the Presidential library. Students of the Yamal youth association of fellow-countrymen and employees of the representational office of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug in Saint Petersburg participated in the event.

The talk was about complex development of the Arctic and the Northern Sea Route, research of arctic territories and development of arctic tourism, preservation of natural legacy of the Arctic zone.
Researchers and specialists in study of the Arctic, participants of expeditions on the Arctic Ocean and historians spoke on the conference. The exhibition of pictures by the artist Stanislav Borodin was presented in the break. He made them within the expedition on the sailing ship “Alter Ego” on the Arctic Ocean. The head of the expedition Stanislav Yershov thanked the government and the governor of Yamal Dmitriy Kobylkin for assistance.
As we should remind, at support of Yamal in 2013 within the sailing regatta “Adventure Race 80dg” the crew of the yacht “Alter Ego” went to the arctic expedition in order to set worship crosses in memory of the pioneers of development of the Russian North.
