Grants will help saving traditional way of life of indigenous peoples of the North

The contest for awarding with grants for saving original environment and traditional way of life of indigenous peoples of the North was announced in Yamal.
The department on affairs of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug is receiving applications. Grants in 200 thousand rubles are given to individually working craftspeople from indigenous ethnic minorities of the North, who are busy with artistic crafts and folk trades. This year about 4 grants are foreseen in this nomination. Grants in 700 thousand rubles are foreseen for small forms of economy of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North, which are busy with traditional kinds of economic activity. 5 grants are planned in this category, as the press-service of the governor of Yamal informs.
As we should remind, last year 4 grants in 200 thousand rubles each were given to individually working craftspeople – an artist on batik Alexandra Yukhlymova from Salekhard, a maker of domestic utensils Yemelyan Kurtyamov, a wood carver Gennady Saltykov and craftswoman Zoya Kurtyamova from Shuryshkarskiy district. 5 grants in 700 thousand each were given to small forms of economy of indigenous peoples of the North. Three of them were given to communities of indigenous peoples of the North – one from Salekhard and two from Shuryshkarskiy district. Two grants were given to individual businesspeople from Yamalskiy district – Victoria Okotetto and Syande Pyrirko.
