In Yakutsk representatives of Yamal will share experience of reindeer husbandry

The fourth All-Russian congress of deer herders of Russia will take place in Yakutsk on the 16th-19th of March. It will gather more than 300 participants.

The delegation of Yamal will include the first deputy head of the region Aleksey Sitnikov, the chairperson of the Legislative Assembly of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug Sergey Yamkin, deputies Marat Abdrakhmanov and Edward Yaungad, the director of the department of agro-industrial complex, trade and foodstuff Viktor Yugai, the chairperson of the Russian Union of Reindeer Herders Dmitriy Khorolya, the chairperson of the Yamal Union of Reindeer Herders Leonid Khudi, the director of the reindeer-herding enterprise “Yamalskoye” Timofey Laptander, the director general of the collective farm “Verkhne-Purovskiy” Nadir Gadjiyev, the director general of the agrarian firm “Pripolyarnaya” Takiulla Sharipov. The report on development of reindeer husbandry in Yamal and new challenges in the branch is being prepared. The press-service of the government of Yakutia informs that delegations of northern regions of the Russian Federation will participate in the congress. The program includes numerous business activities, cultural and sports events. On the plenary session the participants will discuss necessity of legislative support of the branch, in particular, adoption of the federal law “On domestic reindeer husbandry”. They will pay attention to improvement of life quality of reindeer herders, insurance of animals from weather disasters and attacks of predators.
The program of the congress will include the round table on development of the business initiative, the exhibition-fair of agricultural and fur products, material and technical equipping of reindeer herders, the auction of husky dogs. The interregional games of reindeer herders will become the most interesting activities. Reindeer herders will compete in the race of reindeer teams, jumps over narty (nomadic sledge), throwing of a lasso on a khorey (a long pole for driving a deer team) and in a kind of the competitions new for Yamal – towing of a skier by a reindeer.
