The unique travelling exhibition “Treasures of the Ob River area” will be opened in Nadym

The unique travelling exhibition “Treasures of the Ob River area from the special storehouse of the Museum and Exhibition Complex of Ivan Shemanovskiy” it taking place in the Museum of history and archaeology of the town Nadym.

The exposition consists of 5 basic sections: “Horsemen of the North”, “Treasures of Ugric princes: trade and diplomacy”, “Medieval metalcraft of the north of Western Siberia”, “Jewelry of Bulgar and Pre-Ural craftspeople” and “Russian metalcraft in culture of northern peoples”. The exhibition includes 56 items, among which there are items made by ancient craftspeople: bronze and silver dishes, jewelry, parts of weapons, cult attributes.
According to the information given to a correspondent of IA “Sever-Press” by the head of the informational and analytical office of the regional museum Natalia Mirakova, the special storehouse of the Museum and Exhibition Complex contains unique artistic works of silver and bronze, items made by medieval craftspeople from different centers of the civilization – Byzantium, Iran, Syria, Western Europe and Volga Bulgaria and also works by craftspeople-casters of Western Siberia. By number, beauty and state of preservation of these items the funds the main Museum of the region practically has no match, except the largest storehouses of the Hermitage and the State Historical Museum.
The exhibition in the Museum of history and archaeology of Nadym will work till the 9th of May, and then it will go to Tarko-Salye, Noyabrsk and Gubkinskiy.
