Dmitriy Rogozin: It needs to create comfortable conditions for life in the Arctic

As Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin notes, the issue of development of the Arctic is vast and covers many issues such as creation of transport infrastructure, comfortable living conditions, national security, construction of the icebreaker fleet, formation of the national database of related industries and technological elaborations. He told about it in interview to the TV channel “Rossiya 24”.
In the opinion of Deputy Prime Minister, development of the Arctic should be considered from the viewpoint of interests of indigenous population, therefore, “Man in the Arctic” is the main theme of the international forum “The Arctic – Territory of Dialogue” in Arkhangelsk. The region is home to more than two million Russian people, including 120 thousand people of indigenous population. It needs to create the most comfortable conditions for life of people in the Arctic.
According to Dmitry Rogozin, discussions not only during the thematic sessions assist to that. The extended sitting of the State Commission on the Arctic Development will be conducted. The international youth educational forum “The Arctic. Made in Russia” is being conducted. Within the international Arctic forum it is also planned to conduct the forum of Arctic municipalities, the meeting of governors of the Northern forum, the Arctic business forum. The plenary session “Man in the Arctic” will be conducted on the 30th of March with participation of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin. All these activities are called to contribute into the common aim – to lead people’s life in the Arctic region to the qualitatively new level, as Deputy Prime Minister says.
The international Arctic forum “The Arctic – Territory of Dialogue” will take place on the 29th and 30th of March in Arkhangelsk, at the Northern (Arctic) Federal University named after M.V. Lomonosov, as the press center of the forum informs.
