Representatives of Yamal became laureates of the festival of national cultures in Saint Petersburg

The ninth festival of national cultures “Meridian of friendship” of the Russian State Hydrometeorological University took place in Saint Petersburg. Students, national creative unions and regional associations of fellow-countrymen presented culture of their ethnic groups: traditions, national games, dances, decorative and applied art and national cuisine.

Yamal was represented by the students of the Yamal association of fellow-countrymen in Saint-Petersburg “Yamal is for descendants!” studying at Russian State Hydrometeorological University, the Institute of peoples of the North and the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia. They prepared and conducted national sports games, laid the table of national cuisine, prepared the master class on ornaments, the exhibition of decorative and applied art and the creative performance “The crow’s holiday”, as the press-service of the governor of Yamal informs.
In the creative contest dedicated to national and family traditions the team of Yamal was awarded with the prize “For unique identity and charm, bright reflection of family traditions in creative embodiment of epos of the people”. Also the team received two letters of gratitude for preservation and development of national culture and art of Russia, harmonization of interethnic relations in the youth environment of Saint Petersburg and fruitful cooperation in the festival movement.
