The Associations of indigenous peoples and the Association of reindeer herders of Russia will continue cooperation

The Russian Association of Indigenous Peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East intends to continue cooperation with the Association of Reindeer Herders of Russia.

It is planned to prolong the agreement on interaction of the public organizations within the International forum “Indigenous ethnic minorities of the North, Siberia and the Far East” in Salekhard. The new president of the Association of Reindeer Herders Anatoly Dobryantsev was invited to the forum. The president of the Russian Association of Indigenous Peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East Grigory Ledkov told about it within the briefing to the news agency “Sever-Press”.
As he notes, two public organizations were created approximately at one and the same time and their activity is inseparable. The Association of Reindeer Herders was organized on the basis of the Union of Reindeer Herders on the recent congress in Yakutsk, where Yamal was represented by the big delegation. As Grigory Ledkov notes, for indigenous peoples of northern regions, including Yamal, reindeer husbandry is one of key directions in development of traditional branches of economy.
