The exhibition “Wisdom of native word” was opened in Salekhard to the forum of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North

The exhibition-exposition “Wisdom of native word” is taking place in the National library of Yamal within the international forum of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North, Siberia and the Far East of the Russian Federation.

The art-object “Shaman” and the creative composition “Northern Calendar” are being presented on it. “Shaman” is personification of nature and its basic elements uniting all indigenous peoples. “Northern Calendar” is made on the basis of legends and myths of peoples of the North. It tells about interesting peculiar features of each month in a year among indigenous peoples.
An employee of the national library of Yamal Varvara Polozova explains that myths, songs and fairy tales formed in the far past and being given from generation to generation brightly reflect originality of life and everyday activities of indigenous peoples, their native culture. Their legends can be understood as a unique phenomenon, because only they can tell a reader the story of the far past of indigenous peoples.
The exposition is also demonstrating the collection of editions dedicated to folklore, culture and ethnography of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North, Siberia and the Far East of the Russian Federation.
