Igor Barinov presented conditions of inclusion of indigenous peoples to the register

In Salekhard within the congress of indigenous peoples the head of Federal Agency on Affairs of nationalities Igor Barinov promised faster adoption of the law on defining the status of ethnic belonging. Within the media scrum he explained advantages of the register of indigenous ethnic minorities in comparison to pages inserted to passports, which were suggested as one of variants to solve the problem.

“Inclusion to the register of citizens belonging to indigenous peoples conducting traditional way of life also has a financial component”, he said. “But if we give such inserted page to a passport to a child at the age of fourteen, he or she can go to study in a town and at the same time to claim for support, which is more necessary for those, who stays on territories of traditional residence and conducts traditional way of life”.
Inclusion into the registry, according to Igor Barinov, will be confirmed on the regional and municipal levels, where it is known that a representative of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North in fact lives, where he or she was born, and conducts traditional way of life. Only then he or she will be able to have all the rights and privileges of people belonging to indigenous ethnic minorities.
