The congress of indigenous ethnic minorities will find its continuation on the Arctic Forum in Archangelsk

The problems being discussed today on the eighth congress of indigenous peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East of the Russian Federation will be presented on the international forum “The Arctic — Territory of Dialogue” in Arkhangelsk. This information was given by the head of Federal Agency on Affairs of nationalities Igor Barinov on the media scrum within the 8th congress of indigenous peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East of the Russia taking place in Salekhard. In particular, the talk is about problems of nature management and social issues.

“We sent our suggestion into the agenda of the international forum. Especially we shall focus attention on the problematic unsolved issues mentioned yesterday and today in Salekhard. They are topical and need to be solved in the coming time”, he said.
As we should remind, the largest international forum “The Arctic — Territory of Dialogue” will take place in Arkhangelsk on the 29th and the 30th of March. This year it is conducted under the aegis of the State Commission on the Arctic Development. The presidents of Finland, Iceland, Vice-Premier of China and Prime Minister of Sweden are planning to participate in its work.
The business program of the forum includes the plenary sessions “The Arctic — territory for life” and “Man in the Arctic”. Also the next meeting of the State Commission on the Arctic Development and nine thematic sessions in three key directions will take place: “Human capital”, “Sustainable development of the Arctic” and “Science and technology”. The participants will discuss international and interregional cooperation in the Arctic on high technologies, business relations, energy security, tourism potential of the region, development of transport infrastructure. The talk will be about education of highly qualified personnel to ensure development of the Arctic. Special attention of the forum is paid to safety of life activity of the local population, preservation of ecology of the Arctic zone, medicine and health care in conditions of the Far North, prospects of development of northern towns and other topics.
