The fourteenth conference of partner cities of Russia and Germany is taking place in Krasnodar. Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug is being represented by Noviy Urengoy, which is a twin city with Kassel, Germany.
Famous Russian and German governmental officials, politicians, representatives of business circles and public associations are participating in the conference. The theme of youth became one of central topics on the event within the continued German-Russian year of youth exchanges.
Cooperation between Noviy Urengoy and Kassel was started in 2003. In September of 2005 they signed the agreement on further development of cooperation in management, education and culture. Over the years they developed and successfully fulfill programs and projects on education and exchange of experience in administrative management, organizing of inter-school exchange and in-depth study of German language, joint events dedicated to jubilee dates. Also they develop cooperation in other areas of social sphere.
Interaction between the two cities is actively supported by the company “Wintershall holding GmbH”. The trilateral agreement on intentions to create an inclusive preschool educational institution in Noviy Urengoy concluded between the government of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the administration of Noviy Urengoy and “Wintershall holding GmbH” can be considered as one of the achieved results. The interactive presentation of the preschool institution for 200 children took place in September of 2016. Groups of full-time and short stay will be formed, as the press-service of the governor of Yamal informs. Sports, health-improving and correction-developing lessons, programs of musical and esthetic directions will be organized. In the preschool institution it is planned to open the center for comprehensive assistance for providing of psycho-pedagogical and medical-social services.
The conference of partner cities of Russia and Germany is the event of international level for strengthening of cooperation between the two countries. It is conducted once in two years. The first conference of partner cities took place in 1987 in Saarbrücken, the administrative centre of the Saarland. Also the conference took place in Alma-Ata, Bieberbach, Moscow and other cities. The previous conference took place in summer of 2015 in Karlsruhe. About 400 people — representatives from 30 German and 50 Russian cities participated in it.
