The oil terminal “Vorota Arktiki” located in the Gulf of Ob has shipped almost 4 million and 500 thousand tonnes of oil since the beginning of its operation in May last year.
Oil of the brand Novy Port was delivered to consumers on the Northern Sea Route by tankers of the Arctic class.
In total the ships made more than 200 trips. With the launch of “Vorota Arktiki” the company “Gazprom Neft” four times increased indexes of oil offloading from Novoportovskoye field. This information was given to the news agency IA “Sever-Press” in the company “Gazpromneft-Yamal”.
Construction of the unique oil terminal allowed starting industrial development of Novoportovskoye field. Hydrocarbons are offloaded during the whole year round. Now, in addition to the previously involved ships, oil of the brand Novy Port is delivered to consumers by five new tankers of the class Arc7, each with the capacity 42 thousand tonnes of raw materials.
The oil terminal became “the gateway” to the Arctic. During a year a major step was taken in development of extractive fields on the Arctic latitudes and in development of the Northern Sea Route. The capacity of the terminal and also a responsible approach of the collective to observation of rules of labor protection and safety directly influence on growth of oil production in Novoportovskoye field. This allows forecasting successful fulfillment of the plan in 6 million and 300 thousand tonnes of oil in 2018, as the director general of “Gazpromneft-Yamal” Aleksey Ovechkin notes.
Observation of ecological requirements by “Gazpromneft-Yamal” is confirmed with the perpetual license for loading-unloading activities relating to dangerous cargoes on inland waterway transport and in sea ports issued by the Ministry for transport of the Russian Federation.
Construction of the newest icebreaking fleet was started by the request of the company to ensure timely transportation of growing amounts of extracted raw materials. Vyborg Shipyard is completing construction of two multifunctional ships – “Alexander Sannikov” and “Andrey Vilkitsky”. They will go under the Russian flag and accompany tankers in extreme ice conditions of the Gulf of Ob.
“Vorota Arktiki” is a unique structure specially designed for operation behind the Polar Circle. The terminal successfully operates at temperatures of up to 50C degrees below zero and in difficult ice conditions. The developers placed a steel cone in the foundation of the structure. It acts as an icebreaking structure. The height of the terminal is 80 meters, 17 of them are under water. The terminal is totally enclosed, in a case of an emergency situation it can keep oil till full stop of pumps. An opportunity of instant undocking of the terminal and a tanker is foreseen in the process of offloading of raw materials. The command to start up the object was given by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin on the 25th of May of 2016.
The oil being extracted in Novoportovskoye field is a separate brand called Novy Port, and it belongs to the category of light oil. By low content of sulfur (about 0.1 percent) it surpasses not only Russia’s brand “Urals” but also European “Brent”. In addition, oil Novy Port is almost anhydrous with low content of impurities and thus almost does not require for additional treatment.
