Dmitry Kobylkin and Mikhail Kotyukov discussed coordination of researches in the Arctic

On the 1st of June the governor of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug Dmitry Kobylkin and the head of the Federal agency for scientific organizations Mikhail Kotyukov discussed joint conducting of scientific researches on the territory of the Far North of Russia.
They discussed the unified project of the plan on activities in the arctic region, issues of attracting of scientific organizations for fulfillment of general state tasks. The strategic intention on interaction of the government of Yamal and the federal agency was regularized last year in the signed agreement on cooperation.
The necessity of coordination of scientific activity in the Russian Arctic is discussed on all levels. Only the work that is coordinated by the state will give a synergetic effect useful for many northern regions of the country and even of the world, as Dmitry Kobylkin notes.
Today Yamal is one of not many subjects having own scientific infrastructure in high latitudes, accumulated experience of observations, strong relations with academic and big science of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The region develops own scientific researches and supports federal initiatives. Thus, last year the region financed organizing of the arctic permanent study area for the institute of ecology of plants and animals, the Ural branch of the RAS. Also together with the Russian Academy of Sciences and leading Russian institutions the region conducts work on Beliy Island. The scientific and research station equipped with residential and working modules, office equipment, satellite communication and internet access was organized there to help scientists. Such scientific stations are organized on the mainland part of the region and form the network of scientific and research infrastructure. Thus, territories, where industrial development is conducted and where it will be conducted, are covered with ecological monitoring and scientific support. The scientific and research station for monitoring of wide specter of phenomena at the atmosphere, in landscapes and ecological systems connected with climate changes is being created in the district of the port of Sabetta at participation of scientists of the RAS.
