The world exhibition “EXPO 2017” will be opened in Astana on the 10th of June. “Future Energy” will become the theme of the exhibition.
Russia will present the newest decisions and elaborations in the sphere of energy and also projects. Thus, the company “Gazprom Neft” will tell about the arctic oil terminal “Vorota Arktiki”, and NOVATEK – about the project “Yamal LNG” and the newest tanker – gas carrier “Christophe de Margerie”.
The Arctic will become the basic theme of the Russian exposition. This information was given to Gazeta.Ru by Georgiy Kalamanov, the Commissioner-General of “Russia in EXPO-2017”. According to his words, the Arctic is a unique region of Russia, which has enormous energy potential. Now it is an important strategic element of domestic and external policy of many arctic states. Also economic interest in this region grows from the side of non-arctic states, including countries of Europe and Asia.
The reason is in so that the Arctic region is a treasury of different natural resources, first of all, oil and gas. About 22% of world non-prospected hydrocarbon resources are situated in the Arctic, and it means 13% of oil, 30% of natural gas and 20% of gas condensate. At that, 84% of resources are on the shelf of the Arctic Ocean, and 16% — on land territories of arctic states.
As the main task within Expo is to open the topic of search for energy balance, exactly the Arctic best of all suits the central theme of the Russian exposition and the background, on which other Russian regions will be able to demonstrate their potential in energy sphere. Russia has different modern energy resources both traditional and alternative, as Georgiy Kalamanov says.
According to his words, the basic task of Russia is to show visitors this diversity, potential of the country and to demonstrate priorities in development of Russian energy from the past to the future.
