The Unknown Yamal. Travelers will overcome more than two thousand kilometers on the Rivers Ob and Irtysh

On the 18th of June the extreme travelers will go from Tobolsk on the Siberian Rivers – Irtysh and Ob to the Yamal peninsula to the trading station “Shchuchya”. They will overcome more than 2000 kilometers on the route of the first Yamal expedition of the famous traveler and writer Konstantin Nosilov.
Together with his great-grandson the team decided to repeat the route of the 19th century in order to keep cultural and historical heritage and memory about outstanding explorers of Western Siberia. They will set memorial boards to Konstantin Nosilov on the Shchuchya River, on the Yamal peninsula and in Salekhard.
Water tours became traditional for the regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society in the region and the Yamal-Nenets sea assembly “The Unknown Yamal”. This year they again organized the extreme expedition.
According to the information given to the news agency “Sever-Press” in the informational service of the regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society in the region, the head of the historical and ethnographic, enlightening expedition Alexander Petrichenko will guide the participants around the most beautiful places of Siberia, around which the Russian explorer of the North Konstantin Nosilov went. The team will go on the route Tobolsk – Khanty-Mansiysk – Beryozovo – Salekhard – Beloyarsk – Salemal – Nadym.
The water tour was organized on the project of the regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society in Yamal “Lukomorye” and the project of “The Unknown Yamal” in the format of the historical and ethnographic, enlightening, ecological expedition. During the northern trip the participants plan to conduct ethnographic and toponymic researches, reportage photo and video survey.
