The visiting session of the State Commission on Arctic Development is taking place in Sabetta

The visiting session of the State Commission on Arctic Development is taking place in Yamal, in the settlement Sabetta. It is being conducted by the Deputy Prime Minister, the Chairman of the Commission Dmitry Rogozin.

The Governor of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug Dmitry Kobylkin and the Chairman of the Board of “NOVATEK” Leonid Mikhelson, the Director General of the company “Yamal LNG” Yevgeniy Kot, representatives of federal agencies and departments are participating in it. The program of the session includes visits to the plant “Yamal LNG”, the seaport of Sabetta and the frontier checkpoint.
The project “Yamal LNG” is being fulfilled on the Yamal peninsula on the basis of the South Tambey field. “Yamal LNG”, the joint enterprise of NOVATEK (50.1 per cent) group TOTAL (20 per cent), China National Petroleum Corporation — CNPC (20 percent) and the Silk Road Fund (9.9%), is the operator. Proven and probable reserves of the field, according to PRMS standards, make 926 milliard cubic meters of gas.
The plant on liquefying of natural gas is being built in three stages with startups in 2017, 2018 and 2019. The project foresees annual production of about 16 million and 500 thousand tonnes of liquefied natural gas and up to 1 million and 200 thousand tonnes of gas condensate with deliveries to markets of the Asia-Pacific Region and Europe. Necessary transport and social infrastructure, which provides efficient and safe operation of the project, were built within the project “Yamal LNG”.
The seaport of Sabetta was built within public-private partnership. Cargo berths were built to receive building materials and technological modules of the plant. Cargoes are delivered into the port the whole year round. Icebreaking support is used in winter. The seaport of Sabetta will become one of the most important supporting points of the Northern Sea Route — the shortest route connecting Europe and Asia. A tanker, the first of 15, of the highest ice class Arc7 was built specifically for the project “Yamal LNG”.
Near the settlement there is the international airport “Sabetta”, which is able to accept modern passenger and transport aircrafts, and stable air service and regular flights to Noviy Urengoy, Salekhard, Moscow, Samara and Ufa are organized.
As we should remind, the decision about conducting of the session of the State Commission in Sabetta was taken on the 29th of March in Archangelsk on the international forum “The Arctic — Territory of Dialogue”.
