Cargo turnover of seaports of Russia in January-May of this year increased on 11.6 percent in comparison to the same period of last year and made 320 million tonnes. At that, ports of the Arctic basin increased the amount up to 29 million and 800 thousand tonnes or on 69.7 percent.
Two years ago operators of sea terminals in the Arctic during five months offloaded only 14 million and 200 thousand tonnes of cargoes, as the news agency rzd-partner.ru informs. They demonstrate high tempos owing to processing of liquid cargoes up to 18 million and 100 thousand tonnes, increase made 262 percent. Considerable growth of transshipment of oil is stipulated with increase in cargo turnover of the company “Gazpromneft-Yamal” in the port of Sabetta and the beginning of work of the roadstead transshipment center “Kola oil terminal” in the port of Murmansk.
The head of the ministry for transport of the Russian Federation Maksim Sokolov considers that during the coming ten years the port of Sabetta will become the largest cargo hub for deliveries in all directions – both to the east and the west. Use of infrastructure of the port is also a considerable part of transportations on the Northern Sea Route.
The arctic zone basically develops owing to extraction and transshipment of liquid cargoes. However, the amount of transshipment of dry cargoes also grows. By the results of 5 months of this year it reached 11 million tonnes, having increased on 9.7 percent. As a rule, these are coal and mineral fertilizers.
