Yamal will deliver reindeer velvet antlers, pelts and blood to China

Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug plans to adjust the system of processing of antlers, pelts, blood and other products of reindeer husbandry for export.

Every year the region is ready to manufacture up to 350 tonnes of antlers and 100 thousand pelts of reindeer. This information was given by the deputy director of the department of international and external economic relations of Yamal Vladislav Petrenko on the China-Russia EXPO in Harbin.
“There are projects, which are on the final stage of development. We are ready to process about 250 tonnes of velvet antlers, 350 tonnes of ossified antlers, 150 tonnes of blood per year. It is planned to conduct processing on the territory of Yamal, because without primary processing it is difficult to deliver velvet antlers in normal quality to China”, as he notes.
As Vladislav Petrenko explains, in the region it is planned to receive not only meat as a product of reindeer husbandry but also other products being used in medicine and other branches. “A reindeer will be processed on 95 percent” at introduction of the planned projects, as Petrenko notes. As he adds, Chinese companies are interested in the projects, but he does not present concrete terms and investment amounts, as TASS informs.
