A linguist from Yamal went to national settlements to find songs

A junior researcher of the sector of ethnology at the scientific center for study of the Arctic Lyubov Vozelova went to the linguistic expedition around Shuryshkarskiy district.

She will visit the settlements Pitlyar and Lopkhari on the Big Ob River, Muzhi, Shuryshkary, Ovgort and Vosyakhovo on the Small Ob River. She will study linguistic specifics of Khanty language, will conduct socio-linguistic research about use of the language in different age groups of population and communication spheres, as the press-service of the governor of Yamal informs.
The linguist plans to collect and to record folkloric texts for the electronic catalogue of folklore of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North residing in Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, to make video and audio records of elements of verbal folk art of Khanty people and to decode them with help of speakers of the language.
The expedition will last three weeks. It is planned to use its results at creation of the phraseological dictionary of Khanty language.
