Sobsky fish-farming plant became a participant of the Global Fishery Forum

The Global Fishery Forum and International exhibition for fishery, seafood and know-how (Global Fishery Forum & Seafood Expo) is taking place in Saint Petersburg. This is key event of 2017 being organized by the Federal Agency for Fishery (Rosrybolovstvo).
On the opening ceremony the deputy minister for agriculture – the head of Rosrybolovstvo Ilia Shestakov noted that delegations from countries providing a half of the global catch of water biological resources and two third of the global amount of manufacturing of products of aquaculture had arrived to the Northern capital. More than 200 Russian and international companies are participating in the exhibition. They are presenting their products, leading technologies and equipment for fishery. Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug is being represented by Sobsky fish-farming plant.
Issues of work in the World Ocean, global trade of fish and sea products, coastal fish-processing, aquaculture, building of the fleet, protection of reserves of water biological resources and certification of fisheries are being discussed on the forum. Discussion of the Strategy on development of fishery industry of the Russian Federation till 2030 is the significant event, as the representational office of Yamal in Saint Petersburg informs.
As we should note, the research and production association “Sobsky fish-farming plant” was input to operation in the Year of Ecology in March of 2017. The plant is situated on the territory of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, in the settlement Kharp, Priuralskiy district, on the Sob River. Sobsky fish-farming plant is the only enterprise specializing on artificial reproduction of water biological resources in the Arctic region of Russia. The geographical location of the plant determines specifics of its activity, to be more precise, artificial reproduction mainly of valuable whitefish species — muksun, round-nosed whitefish and pelyad, for compensation of any damage done as a result of economic activity of enterprises to aquatic biological resources within water reservoirs of Ob-Irtysh fishery basin. Technological equipment is unique, has no analogues, and in conditions of closed water in pools it allows growing juvenile fish up to different weight till release into natural waters. The plant is equipped with 685 incubators and 180 pools. The technologies being used on the plant are designed for growing of juvenile up to various weights, including 0.5, 1, 1.5 and 10 grams. Broodstocks of muksun and sterlet are formed on the plant for future fish stocking material.
