Deputies of Yamal shared experience of law-making work with the delegation of the Embassy of Estonia

Deputies of the Legislative assembly of Yamal conducted the meeting with the delegation of the Embassy of Estonia in the Russian Federation. It was headed by the Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia in the Russian Federation Arti Hilpus. Representatives of the department on affairs of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North, the department of international and external economic relations of Yamal, the association “Yamal is for descendants”, the regional public movement of Komi-Zyryan people “Iz’vatas” also participated in the meeting.
In Salekhard the Estonian delegation is getting acquainted to historical and cultural heritage of the region and conducting negotiations on prospects of further cooperation on preservation of culture, traditions and language of Finno-Ugric peoples. The deputies shared law-making experience on support of indigenous peoples, creation of normative and legal base for their active participation in life of the region and job placement, as it is informed in the press-service of the parliament.
As the chairman of the committee of the regional parliament on development of agro-industrial complex and affairs of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North Marat Abdrakhmanov says, life activity of tundra people is regulated with about 40 regional laws. If to compare Yamal in this sphere with other subjects, where indigenous peoples reside, this is a serious figure. But there is much work. Now specialists together with indigenous population are forming the People’s program of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North till 2022.
The Estonian delegation was interested in practical use of laws in the sphere of protection of original environment, education and job placement.
