The group of combat ships and support vessels of the Northern Fleet fulfilling tasks of the arctic expedition started passing through ice-dangerous areas in the Laptev Sea.
With assistance of the nuclear-powered icebreaker “Yamal” they started moving towards the eastern part of Vilkitsky Strait, as the press-service of the Northern Fleet informs. Ice situation on the route of the ships is favorable. Nevertheless, there is some concentration of ice, which can threaten navigation security of the ships. The group of the Northern Fleet ships will follow the icebreaker “Yamal” to Matisen Strait in the Kara Sea, and then the ships will continue moving to the west.
The sixth Arctic expedition of the surface forces of the Northern Fleet was started on the 10th of August from Severomorsk. The group includes the large anti-submarine ship “Severomorsk”, the big landing ship “Kondopoga”, the support vessels: the tanker “Sergey Osipov”, the rescue tugboat “Pamir” and the anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessel KIL-164.
