Security in the Arctic starts from Yamal. An additional squad of the Ministry for emergency situations will be organized in the region

This year in Yamal it is planned to start organizing a rescue squad of the Ministry for emergency situations of Russia. In August of 2017 the head of the Ministry for emergency situations of Russia Vladimir Puchkov confirmed the idea of organizing of additional squads of rescuers in arctic regions of the country. 

The governor of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug Dmitry Kobylkin is sure that it is extremely important to be ready for any technogenic and natural challenges and in full capacity to correspond to those conditions, which are specific for the arctic area: severe climate, low temperatures, remote and hard-to-reach character of populated areas and sparse population of the territory. In order to correspond to such requirements rescue centers need powerful and reliable vehicles and high-class professionals.
As the press-service of the Main office of the Ministry for emergency situation of Russia on Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug informs, it is planned to equip the rescue center of Yamal with a helicopter of arctic type and off-road terrestrial caterpillar vehicles, which is purposed for work in high latitudes and which is not afraid of snow, frost and swampy areas. As the specialists add, now they are working on technical issues.
