As the deputy chairman of NOVATEK Denis Khramov informed at the world economic forum in Davos, the company will reduce the cost of building of the new LNG plant, what will increase competitiveness of Russia on the world energy market.
The company’s engineering solutions will lead to the fact that, in addition to very low costs of production and geological exploration, it will be able to achieve for costs for liquefaction less than two dollars per one million British Thermal Units, as “Vedomosti” quotes Khramov.
The company counts to achieve for this target at the next plant of liquefied natural gas “Arctic LNG 2” on the Gydan Peninsula. The project with the cost about 20 milliard dollars supposes construction of three lines with the capacity of 18 million and 300 thousand tonnes of LNG per year.
The strategy stated by the company can make the prime cost of Russian LNG one of the lowest in the world even with consideration of transportation.
NOVATEK plans that the capacity of the future plant “Arctic LNG 2” will exceed 19 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas per year, as Denis Khramov notes.
“Arctic LNG 2” is the second project of NOVATEK after “Yamal LNG” associated with production of liquefied natural gas. It is planned to fulfill the project on base of the Salmanovskoye (Utrenneye) field on the Gydan Peninsula. According to the company’s plans, the plant will consist of three production lines. The expected date for the startup of the first line is planned for 2022 -2023 with the next startup of the remaining lines in 2024 and 2025.
