The expedition of officials and deputies went from the settlement Yar-Salye to Novy Port. They are overcoming 128 kilometers during 5 hours to conduct the meeting with population. Also they are visiting nomadic camps in order to tell reindeer herders about the People’s Program of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North.
Earlier the expedition went from Salekhard by Trecol vehicles (off-road vehicles on low-pressure tires). In Yar-Salye in the nomadic camp “Limbya” they discussed the route of the expedition around northern settlements of Yamalskiy district. Considering the length of the route and difficult arctic conditions they in details outlined the route from the settlement Seyakha through nomadic camps of reindeer herders and trading stations to the district center.
According to a deputy of the Legislative Assembly of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the president of the Association “Yamal is for descendants” Eduard Yaungad, the route and weather conditions are difficult. It needs to conduct meetings with as bigger number of tundra dwellers as possible, to visit the remotest nomadic camps and settlements. Therefore, the route is being prepared so thoroughly. But the mood of the participants of the expedition is good, adrenalin from such travels is provided, as he says.
This is not the first such travel of the deputy to remote settlements, in December he has already visited populated areas, trading stations and nomadic camps. This time he plans to tell the local population about measures of state support, the People’s program of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North and fulfillment of the roadmap on development of reindeer husbandry. In his opinion, it needs to tell about such things, looking into eyes of people. As he explains, the People’s program is a live document. It is possible to make it viable and relevant only under personal communication with those, for who it is being written.
By Trecol vehicles the participants of the expedition are going to visit a row of settlements, trading stations and also nomadic camps of reindeer herders in tundra of Yaptik-Salye and Seyakha. The total length of the route is more than 1600 kilometers.
