“The Arctic. Yamal – I live here”. The governor of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug participated in the ecological forum

On the 5th of February in Noviy Urengoy the governor of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug Dmitry Kobylkin participated in work of the ecological forum “The Arctic. Yamal – I live here”. 

This large event traditionally united non-indifferent inhabitants and guests of the town on one big platform – in the town sports palace. Dialogue interactive and exhibition sections are working here. On them it is possible to get acquainted to such regional projects as “Comfortable urban environment” and “We live in the North”. Specialists and volunteers are telling about plans on improvement of the municipality. The photography area operates. In the section of school N17 it is possible to see work of a robotic complex and a smart home created by schoolchildren and also to participate in master classes.
Employees and pupils of the House of children’s creative work are ready to share information on fulfillment of the project “EcoNUR”. (The note: the project is organized with the purpose to form ecological culture, to increase consciousness of schoolchildren through inclusion into the process of separate collection of recyclables. It is organized in the form of a big ecological quest).
The program of the event includes an ecological flash-mob; in the section “EcoHolding” it is possible to see the exhibition of birds, which were incubated in Yamal in spite of the northern climate. The organizers prepared different master classes for visitors. Also the program includes the business game and the discussion session in the section “The Year of social responsibility. Volunteers”.
Dmitry Kobylkin visited different exhibitions, communicated to organizers of expositions, highly evaluated potential of the ecological forum for involvement of the bigger number of supporters to projects necessary for Yamal.
Opening the strategic session, the governor of Yamal developed this idea. As he underlines, only together it is possible to count on the result. He reminds that, living in the Arctic, residents of Yamal understand well fragility of nature of the Far North and significance of environmental protection.
Also the governor tells about true keepers of the Arctic – indigenous population. It is a duty for people of Yamal to preserve this land in its original form. It is the priority task for the authorities, as the head of the region underlines.
As it is said in the governor’s report, ecological policy in Yamal is the full-scale complex of projects and programs: only within the Year of ecology in 2017 more than 70 large activities took place in the region. Completion of the general cleaning of Bely Island and start of the analogous expedition on Vilkitsky Island became the key ones.
As Dmitry Kobylkin notes, the authorities observe that fulfillment of strategic projects, development of the Arctic would be safe, and it is very fine that environmental protection is fulfilled at big support of volunteers. It is true love to the Motherland, as he underlines.
Enterprises – subsoil users working on the territory of the region render active support. Only during a year in Yamal they liquidated more than 250 old wells. In addition, these companies take obligations on preservation of ecological balance and help to indigenous peoples. Dmitry Kobylkin expressed gratitude to all participants of ecological activities important for the region; separately he marked heads of fuel and energy enterprises, who came to development of new areas with use of the most modern nature-protecting technologies and also for their understanding of significance of social transformations in the region and support in fulfillment of these projects.
Also he notes that the Russian center for exploration of the Arctic was created at personal support of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin. Researches of scientists on restoration of reindeer pastures are at their final stage. Today reindeer pastures take 65 percent of the whole territory of Yamal.
As we should remind, 15 areas of ecological monitoring have been created in Yamal since 2010. The new Synsko-Voykarsky natural reserve was created in 2017. Now there are 14 specially protected natural territories with the total area about 80 thousand square kilometers in Yamal. At that, the area of Yamal makes 769 thousand square kilometers. Thus, more than 10 percent of territories have the status of specially protected ones in Yamal.
For minimization of ecological risks the government of the region approved the state program and developed necessary normative acts. Scientific centers are being created, ecological projects are being fulfilled and creation of the emergency and rescue center of the Russian Ministry for emergency situations is being planned in Yamal. Individuals and public organizations such as “Green Arctic” play a big role in ecological work in Yamal.
The governor is sure that the region will come to success only at a condition of consolidation of efforts – if all the people work together: the power – the society – every citizen. He reminds that 2018 in Yamal is the Year of social responsibility, which will become the logical continuation of the Year of ecology.
In addition, the talk on the meeting was also about fulfillment of the project of the Northern Latitudinal Railway. The governor notes that research work for building of the bridge across the Ob River has been already started near the towns Salekhard and Labytnangi.
The head of Noviy Urengoy Ivan Kostogryz spoke on the report within the strategic session. He presented information about nature-protecting activities being conducted in the municipality, about projects, which will be fulfilled in the prospect. Reports on social responsibility of heads and representatives of such enterprises and “Gazprom dobycha Urengoy”, “Severneftegazprom”, “Gazprom dobycha Yamburg” and the road building enterprise “UrengoyDorStroy” were presented, as the press-service of the governor of Yamal informs.
