Young participants of “Yamal-Ambassadors” from the settlement Syunay-Salye received presents from a deputy and the president of the Association “Yamal is for descendants” Edward Yaungad. The parliamentarian marked thirst for knowledge of pupils of the local school-kindergarten and their wish to learn other languages and cultures.
The pupils of the school-kindergarten are participating in the social and enlightenment project on advanced study of English language by youth and junior pupils from indigenous ethnic minorities of the North. After the course is completed, the children will receive speaking and writing skills in English, necessary vocabulary and also will be able to present Yamal and traditional lifestyle of nomads in English.
As Edward Yaungad says, all children equally should receive the opportunity for self-actualization, demand and success. The project gives the new generation of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North the bigger number of opportunities. And skills shown by the children confirm that this initiative is not in vain.
As we should remind, the project was initiated by the department on affairs of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North in Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the Association of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North “Yamal is for descendants”, the charitable fund for development of indigenous peoples of the North and the English language center “English Yamal”. It is being fulfilled in Salekhard and the settlement Syunay-Salye, Yamalskiy district. Expenditures on participation of youth and children in the project are compensated at the expenses of the Association “Yamal is for descendants” and the charitable fund for development of indigenous peoples of the North. The video film about Yamal and Salekhard in English will become one of the results of the project. The participants of the project “Yamal Ambassadors” will become its main heroes. The project will last from February to December of 2018.
