The regional forum of mass media “Flying dove” will grow into “Arctic-media”. The circumpolar congress will take place in Yamal

Representatives of media community from Denmark, Iceland, Canada, Norway, the USA, Sweden and eight regions of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation will come to Salekhard. They will become participants of the International Circumpolar Congress of mass media “Arctic-media”, which will be conducted in conjunction with the 88th anniversary of the arctic region. The idea was supported by the governor of Yamal Dmitry Kobylkin and the president of the Russian Union of journalists Vladimir Solovyov.
It is planned to conduct the international congress in December this year, the department of international and external economic relations and the department of domestic policy of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug will participate in organizing of the event. It is supposed that the program will include the wide business agenda with the plenary session and the number of sections. It is also planned to visit the plant on liquefying of natural gas “Yamal LNG” in Sabetta and to conduct the exhibition of arctic mass media.
The Congress will be focused on joint discussing by representatives of mass media and the power of topical issues on development of arctic territories. The participants will exchange experience, will establish communication between journalists from different countries in coverage of different topics of the Arctic agenda and will form sustainable notions “arctic journalism” and “arctic mass media” in media environment.
The chairman of the Union of journalists of Yamal and the editor-in-chief of the regional newspaper “Krasniy Sever” Aleksey Snegiryov was the initiator of the international event. He suggested reformatting the regional media forum “The flying dove”, having increased its status, as the press service of the governor of Yamal informs.
