Security in the Arctic. Dmitry Kobylkin conducted the meeting with the commander of the National Guard for Ural region

On the 14th of February the governor of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug Dmitry Kobylkin conducted the working meeting with the new commander of Ural district of the National Guard Forces Command of the Russian Federation, Lieutenant General Alexander Popov.
He took the post last December and started his work from the viewing trip around Ural territories.
According to him, check of plans and tasks on fulfillment of the presidential instructions laid on the National Guard of Russia with consideration of significance of arctic frontiers and strategic character of the territory of the region became the aim of the visit to Yamal and the working meeting with the head of the region.
The tasks are clear, and the National Guard fulfills them in Yamal in the full amount. Alexander Popov and Dmitry Kobylkin discussed a row of activities being referred to providing of security of the developing Northern Sea Route, as the commander notes.
The head of the region highly evaluated contribution to security of the region from the side of the territorial department of the Russian National Guard for the Autonomous Okrug.
Requirements to security of Yamal are being increased strictly. The region started up the project “Yamal LNG”, which is strategic for the whole country. Exploration and development of the Gydan Peninsula, construction of the Northern Latitudinal Railway are the next. Development of the Northern Sea Route is taking place. There is much work ahead, as Dmitry Kobylkin tells.
The program of the visit includes acquaintance of Alexander Popov with the collective of the structural subdivision in Noviy Urengoy, as the press-service of the governor of Yamal informs.
As we should note, Alexander Popov graduated from Ordzhonikidze Higher Military Command School of the Ministry for Internal Affairs of the USSR and the Frunze Military Academy and also Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia. He served on posts of the middle and senior commanding staff in Krasnoyarsk Krai, Novosibirsk, Ozyorsk, Khabarovsk and Chechen Republic.
