The project “Arctic LNG 2” will become a part of the gas strategy of Saudi Aramco

Russia invited the national oil company of Saudi Arabia — Saudi Aramco — to participate in the project on liquefying of gas “Arctic LNG-2” of the Russian company NOVATEK. The Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources of Saudi Arabia Khalid A. Al-Falih told about it on the press conference. 

According to the minister, the Russian colleagues offered the opportunity to invest in the second stage of “Yamal LNG” (“Arctic LNG 2”, the second project of NOVATEK). This is a big project. It will become a part of the gas strategy of Aramco, as he notes.
Earlier Khalid A. Al-Falih in the interview with TASS said that Saudi Arabia was studying the opportunity of participation in the second project of NOVATEK on construction of the plant “Arctic LNG 2”, as energybase.ru informs.
“Arctic LNG 2” is the second LNG-plant of NOVATEK, the startup of which should take place on the basis of extractive fields on the Gydan peninsula in 2023. Its capacity will make more than 18 million tonnes of LNG per year (three stages in 6 million tonnes each).
