The terminal Vorota Arktiki will receive two new icebreakers till the end of the year

Vyborg Shipyard plans to deliver two icebreakers of the project IBSV01 with the capacity 22 megawatt till November 2018: “Alexander Sannikov” and “Andrey Vilkitsky”.
The chief of the board of civil shipbuilding of the North-Western region of the Russian Federation under the department of civil shipbuilding under the United Shipbuilding Corporation Yevgeniy Molodichenko gave this information at the international forum “Arctic Shipbuilding” in Arkhangelsk.
According to IAA “PortNews”, it is planned to deliver the icebreaker “Alexander Sannikov” to the customer in late June — early July 2018, and the icebreaker “Andrey Vilkitsky” in October this year. According to the earlier information, commissioning of the icebreakers should have taken place till 2018.
The conceptual design of the vessel was fulfilled by Aker Arctic Technology, working and designing documentation – by Petrobalt Design Bureau.
As we should remind, the two multi-purpose icebreakers with the capacity 22 Megawatt are being built at Vyborg Shipyard on the order of “Gazprom Neft”. The vessels are designed to operate at the Arctic terminal of Novoportovskoye field, where they will perform the following tasks: icebreaking support of tankers, assistance in mooring and loading operations, rescue operations, ship towing, fire fighting and participation in operations to eliminate oil spills. The vessels can operate in solid ice with the thickness about 2 meters and with the 30-centimeter snow cover with the speed 2 knots, when moving forward both the bow and the stern.
