A subsidiary “NOVATEK-Yurkharovneftegaz” won the auction for the right of subsoil use of the South Leskinskoye area for geological study, exploration and production of hydrocarbons. Its resource potential is estimated at 3 milliard 500 million barrels of oil equivalent of hydrocarbons according to the Russian classification. The license is issued for 27 years. By the results of the auction, one-time payment for use of subsoil was determined at the level of 2041 million rubles, as the press center of NOVATEK reported to the news agency “Sever-Press”. The South Leskinskoye area is located on the Gydan Peninsula on the territory of Krasnoyarsk Krai, in close proximity to existing assets of NOVATEK. Acquisition of the new license area corresponds to the company’s strategy on increase in resource base in Yamal and Gydan for growth of gas and liquid hydrocarbon production.
NOVATEK is one of the largest independent natural gas producers in Russia. In 2017 the company entered the international gas market due to the successful startup of the project “Yamal LNG”. Extractive fields and license areas of NOVATEK are located mainly in Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
