The sports complex “Arktika” in the district of Korotchayevo will be opened at the end of December

The final stage of work is taking place on the building site of the sports complex in the district of Korotchayevo, Noviy Urengoy. The sports complex has already received its name – “Arktika”. The grand opening is scheduled for the end of December, and in the beginning of next week specialists are waiting for delivery of sports equipment, as the press service of the governor of Yamal informs.
As we should note, building process was started in March 2016. The total area of the two-storey building makes 9 674.5 square meters. The sports complex includes a ski base, a universal gymnasium and a room with training apparatuses, halls for freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling, aerobics, boxing, tennis and darts. There is a chess club on the second storey.
Much attention is paid to accessibility of the object for people with limited mobility. The parking area has appropriate places; a wheelchair ramp was made for access to the building. Inside a passenger elevator was installed as well as wide doors without thresholds, equipped locker rooms and other household premises were provided. There are conditions for training of special people of Yamal in the sports halls. Information tactile pathways were made for ease of movement.
Construction of the sports complex is being fulfilled within the six-party agreement on cooperation of the Plenipotentiary Envoy of the President of the Russian Federation in Ural Federal Okrug, the administrations of Tyumen Oblast, Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug and Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Transneft and “Corporation of Development”.
Construction of sports objects in Yamal is aimed at achievement of goals defined by the May presidential decree “On national goals and strategic objectives of development of the Russian Federation up to 2024”. At the moment, 13 sports objects are being built and designed in the region, 6 of them are within the Targeted investment program, and 7 are being built at the expenses of the fuel and energy enterprises.
