The personal exhibition of three young craftsmen Sergey Alyaba, Alexander Sotruyev and Semyon Sevli will be opened in Salekhard on the 6th of December. They will sum up the professional results of the latest years. The exposition will include more than 60 exhibits, among which there are belts, tambourines, traditional fishing and hunting tools and also the collection of ethnic knives, which can be considered the visiting card of the craftsmen.
“A knife with or without ornaments is a sacred attribute”, as Sergey Alyaba commented.
The young craftsmen are graduates from Yamal multidiscipline college and Tobolsk State Social and Pedagogical Academy named after D.I. Mendeleev. They work in the regional house of crafts, where they create art-works of bone and wood and also skillfully work with leather and vegetation materials. It is easy to see ethnic motives in all works by the authors. The craftsmen themselves are good connoisseurs of cultural traditions of Khanty people.
According to the information given to a correspondent of the news agency “Sever-Press” in the regional house of crafts, it will be possible to visit the exhibition till the end of December.
