The agreement on measures of preservation of biological diversity and reproduction of commercial fish was signed during the working meeting of the delegation of the government of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug and the management board of “Gazprom Neft” held in St. Petersburg. The document was signed by the Governor of Yamal Dmitry Artyukhov and the Chairman of the Board of Gazprom Neft Alexander Dyukov, as the press service of the governor of Yamal informs.
“Today’s agreement is an example of effective cooperation between Gazprom Neft and Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. Significant environmental projects are being implemented in Yamal due to active support from the side of the company. For several years we have been working together at Sobsky fish-farming plant. It is very important that every year the list of directions significant for the region grows”, Dmitry Artyukhov said.
“Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug is one of the key regions of development for Gazprom Neft. We not only actively fulfill major investment projects in the region, but also pay great importance to preservation of its unique nature, including large-scale work on waste disposal of the so-called “historical heritage” of the Soviet period in the settlements Mys Kamenniy and Novy Port. The new agreement expands our effective cooperation with the region within environmental projects”, Alexander Dyukov, the Chairman of the management Board of Gazprom Neft said.
The company will enlarge its own program for preservation and protection of aquatic biological resources and their habitat on the territory of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. The sides discussed the opportunity of long-term cooperation of subsidiaries of Gazprom Neft with Sobsky fish-farming plant. The research and production association is the only organization that specializes in artificial reproduction of fish in the arctic region of Russia and release of juvenile fish into the largest waterway of Yamal and the entire Ural Federal Okrug – the Ob River. Technological equipment of the plant has no analogues and consists of 685 incubators and 180 pools. Earlier, in 2017-2018, the company’s subsidiaries released more than 41 million fingerlings of peled, muksun and other fish species into the Ob-Irtysh basin. In 2019 the program on biodiversity protection will be extended. Restoration of ecological balance is annual contribution of “Gazprom Neft” to protection of fragile nature in the Arctic.
During the official meeting the sides also reviewed implementation of strategic projects of the company on the territory of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. The key asset of Gazprom Neft located on the Yamal Peninsula — Novoportovskoye field continues its successful development. The operator of the project “Gazpromneft-Yamal” reached the planned oil production figures in 9 million 900 thousand tonnes of oil equivalent ahead of schedule, exceeding the level of 2018 on 40%. In the future the oil-extracting cluster of Novy Port will grow due to synergy of South-Obsky license area, the license for which was given to “Gazprom Neft shelf” in 2018.
The strategic asset of the company – “Messoyakhaneftegaz” steadily grows on the Gydan Peninsula. The company increases its resource base, having discovered a gas and oil deposit with extractable reserves in 26 million tonnes of oil, what confirms potential of the northernmost group of extractive fields on land of Russia. Achievement of peak production of the asset is planned in 2021 and will make 6 million tonnes of oil. The large-scale project on development of oil rims of Nadym-Pur-Taz region will be another point of growth. The group of fields located here has the developed infrastructure and will act as the platform for creation and introduction of innovative technologies for oil industry.
