Professor from Tyumen was included to the international expert group on the Arctic issues

The head of the department of marketing and municipal management of the Industrial University of Tyumen, doctor of sociology, Professor Marina Belonozhko joined two working groups on solving of the Arctic issues. The Professor’s experience was evaluated at the state and international levels.
Last year Marina Belonozhko received an invitation to become a member of the international expert group on ecological responsibility in the Arctic. The group is an independent initiative. Its task is to assess the ecological status of oil and gas and resource-extracting companies in the Arctic.
“It is certainly the great honor and recognition for our University to be part of the international expert group on the Arctic issues. We shall work with companies that are involved in extraction of resources behind the Polar Circle in the northern polar regions, in particular, in Alaska, Greenland, Iceland, Canada, Norway, Russia, Finland and Sweden. I am sure that our potential and achievements in the sphere of the Arctic studies will allow the supporting higher education institution to fulfill all the tasks”, as the Professor commented.
The aim of the expert group is to advance high ecological standards among companies being involved in extraction of resources in the Arctic. The results of the group’s work will be published in the form of the rating of companies in open access.
In addition, Marina Belonozhko and more than 20 leading scientists of the country will unite for scientific research of the Arctic. Activity of their subgroup will be inseparably linked to activities of the working group “Development of education and science” being headed by the Ministry of science and higher education of the Russian Federation. According to the press service of Industrial University of Tyumen, the sphere of supervision of the scientific subgroup will include issues on coordination and development of scientific activity in the Arctic zone of Russia, which is aimed at implementation of tasks on strategic development and national security in the region.
The director of the department of State Science, Technology and Innovation Policy of Russia Mikhail Romanovsky is the head of the subgroup.
