This year the icebreaker “Ob” will come to work in the Gulf of Ob

It is planned to deliver the first conventional (non-nuclear) icebreaker of Rosatomflot “Ob” being built at Vyborg Shipyard to the customer in May of 2019. This information was given to TASS by the head of the marketing department of the enterprise Nikita Voroshilov.
“Now the icebreaker is on the stage of readiness close to 90%. Completion work is taking place, cable tightening is being fulfilled; equipment was set and is being adjusted. At the end of May it is planned to deliver the ship to the customer”, as Voroshilov said.
Laying the icebreaker “Ob” of the project Aker ARC 124 (ice class Icebreaker7) took place on the 27th of September of 2016, its launch to water – in June of 2018. The ship has the length 89.2 meters, the width – 21.9 meters and the draught – 7.5 meters. The capacity of the ship is 12 megawatt, what allows working effectively in the ice with the thickness 1.5 meters at the speed in 2 knots and to develop the speed 4 knots in broken ice with the thickness up to 5 meters.
The state enterprise “Atomflot” of the corporation “Rosatomflot” is the ship-owner and the operator of the port icebreaker “Ob”. In November of 2014 it signed the contract on rendering of the set of services of the port fleet, icebreaking support of ships and servicing of water areas of the port of Sabetta for the project “Yamal LNG” till the 31st of December of 2040.
