In the settlement Yar-Salye of Yamalskiy district residents observed an interesting natural phenomenon – very high light pillars. At that, according to the author of the video material Ravil Safarbekov, they changed color, shimmering in different shades, what is usually not typical for light pillars.
Light (luminous) pillars are the spread variant of halo, which appears at definite conditions around a source of light. Sun or moon light interacts with ice crystals formed in the atmosphere, which reflect it.
More often such optical effects appear in a cold season of the year. A lot of hexahedral ice crystals capable to reflect rays of light appear in the atmosphere at low air temperatures.
