President Vladimir Putin and members of the government discussed priority tasks in the socioeconomic sphere and ways of their fulfillment. The first Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of finance Anton Siluanov spoke about measures on development of economy. According to him, increase in the share of investments in the gross domestic product up to 25% is one of the most important areas of the work. Development of transport, digital, energy and ecological infrastructure is the necessary condition in this issue.
This year construction of several major transport projects will be started in Russia. The first Deputy Prime Minister called the Northern Latitudinal Railway among them, as the press service of the governor of Yamal informs.
The concession agreement on the project implementation was signed in autumn of 2018. The railroad line with the length 707 kilometers will be a central element of the unified arctic transport system. It will connect a western part and an eastern part of the region, as well as the Northern and Sverdlovsk Railways. The new railroad line will reduce the length of cargo delivery from Western Siberia to ports of the Baltic Sea, and also will decrease the burden of the existing southern route. Implementation of the project will considerably reduce transport costs in economy and will expand geography of suppliers of products to the region.
In addition, Anton Siluanov marked reconstruction and construction of airports in 27 regions of Russia among the most important transport projects. In 2019 modernization of the airport complex in Noviy Urengoy will be started in Yamal. The passenger terminal with the area about 15 thousand square meters will be equipped with three telescopic ladders and 12 check-in counters at the first stage. Its carrying capacity will make 840 passengers per hour. The airport development plan provides the opportunity in the future to increase the area of the terminal and create a sector for international flights. On the public space near the airport it is planned to arrange short-term and long-term parking areas with the capacity at least 200 and 300 cars, respectively. It is also planned to reconstruct a runway, bearing tracks and a terminal apron. The work on construction and reconstruction of the objects will be fulfilled without stopping of operational activity of the airport.
