In Moscow the Minister for Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic Alexander Kozlov and the governor of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug Dmitry Artyukhov discussed infrastructural projects of Yamal. The working meeting took place at once after transfer of authorities on elaboration of the state policy in the sphere of socioeconomic development of arctic territories to the federal agency. The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin signed the corresponding decree on the 26th of February.
“Yamal, as well as other arctic subjects, is to fulfill a row of full-scale projects: it needs to remove infrastructural restrictions and, in fact, to create the new transport map of the Arctic, to increase the cargo traffic on the Northern Sea Route, to make comfortable conditions for people’s life”, Dmitry Artyukhov noted.
The project on creation of the Northern Latitudinal Railway became the basic topic for the meeting. The Railway will give a new impulse for development of the region, will allow increasing tempos of development of extractive fields and will simplify delivery of cargoes from Western Siberia. Its fulfillment will allow increasing the cargo traffic on the Northern Sea Route up to 80 million tonnes by 2024, as the press service of the governor of Yamal informs.
“Industrial capacities of the region grow every year. We shall support your projects”, Alexander Kozlov said.
By the results of the meeting, the governor of Yamal noted that the region and the ministry came to understanding how to build further interaction for effective solving of the set tasks.
