The nuclear-powered container ship “Sevmorput” will deliver cargo for the project “Arctic LNG 2”

The nuclear-powered container ship “Sevmorput” of Atomflot arrived in the seaport of Arkhangelsk on the 6th of March to load heterogeneous cargo for the project “Arctic LNG 2”.
The world’s only transport vessel with the nuclear power plant will take palletized cargo, containers and equipment on board, as the office of communications of Rosatomflot informs. After completion of loading operations the container ship “Sevmorput” will go to Utrenneye field, on the basis of which the project “Arctic LNG 2” is being implemented. It is located on the Gydan Peninsula in the Gulf of Ob.
“Rosatomflot is an active participant in the largest arctic hydrocarbon projects”, Mustafa Kashka, the director general of Atomflot said. “Involvement of the nuclear-powered container ship “Sevmorput” in fulfillment of the project “Arctic LNG 2” demonstrates demand for our successful experience in the Arctic”.
The crew of the nuclear-powered container ship “Sevmorput” will provide delivering and unloading of the cargo on the land ice. Sailors of Rosatomflot have necessary experience in carrying out such operations in high latitudes. In one voyage the ship will deliver the cargo with the amount in 37 thousand freight units for construction of “Arctic LNG 2”.
Departure from the seaport of Arkhangelsk in the direction of the Gydan Peninsula is scheduled for the middle of March. Another voyage towards Utrenneye field is planned for April.
